Was Mary Assumed Into Heaven?

Bodily Assumption of Mary to Heaven

Protestant Christian Understanding:  Mary died and body decayed like everyone else.  She was never assumed into Heaven.

Catholic Christian Understanding: It is a biblical fact that Mary was Assumed into heaven.  Her body was special, and like the Ark of the Covenant, at the end of her life it would have been unfitting to let it die like others, decay and return back to the earth as dust.

The Ark of Covenant was built with special wood called "gopher wood", book of Exodus calls it indestructible wood.  Mary, as the new Ark of the Covenant, is foreshadowed by the book of Exodus that her body was not going to be subject to decay and corruption.  The Apostles themselves saw her body be taken from the earth and brought to the heaven.  Apocalypse of John at the end of Chapter 11, John talks about seeing the temple opened and the Ark Of His Covenant (Mary) was seen there.

The biblical passage that makes this abundantly clear is Revelation 12:1, which says, "And I saw a great sign in heaven, a woman clothed with the Son who gives birth to him …. etc… "  John said he saw the Ark called to heaven, a woman (Mary) crowned with 12 stars (which symbolized the apostles.)

Please refer to Example B for this diagram and next example.
Let's do another diagram with connecting the dots, and remember, these exercises help show the "concordance" or the divine connections between what God has taught us in the new and old testaments and how He fulfilled the old with the new in a much greater and better way.

The purpose of this diagram is to show the logic why and how Mary was assumed into Heaven. All Christians agree that Elija, the son of Elijah, did miracles in the old testament, like Jesus did in the new. So Elijia is a "type" of Jesus, for instance he multiplied bread and raised the dead, just as Jesus did. Elijia was assumed into heaven at the end of his life and taken there on a chariot, which all Christians agree on.

In addition to the recorded bible verses that prove this above, here is more logic on what God showed and did:

Elijia is a "Type" of Christ. Christ's parent is Mary. Elijah is parent to Elijia. So we have parent to son and parent to Son.  Elijah is a type of Mary because Elijah's son is a Type of Jesus. And if Elijah was assumed into Heaven after his departure from this world after his spectacular life, so was Mary.  The bible says Elijah will appear in the end times like Mary has in Fatima and other appearances.  God took Elijah to Heaven, as He did the same with Mary.  They both are the "type" that mirror each other and their roles, coinciding with the new testament fulling the old testament.
